SEGITTUR and the Alastria Association Network Consortium have signed a collaboration agreement to promote knowledge of blockchain technology in the tourism sector, and also to share successful experiences in the use of this technology.
Today, the Plenary Commission of the Smart Destinations Network, led by King Felipe VI, approved the incorporation of 27 new members.
The application of technology in tourist destinations and tourism companies needs to go hand in hand with cyber security measures, according to several experts at the “What do we need to be a cyber-secure destination?” webinar organised by the Smart Destinations Network.
This week, SEGITTUR began working with the city of Salamanca to help it become a Smart Destination. This is a result of the initiative promoted by the local government to add value to the destination.
Today the minister for Industry, Trade and Tourism, Reyes Maroto, led the Executive Committee of the Smart Destinations Network, presenting the main actions in the Tourism Recovery Plan which the Ministry is working on to alleviate the impact of COVID-19 on the sector.
SEGITTUR has begun work on the development of semantics for tourist destinations, which will help to spread confidence to tourists in a standardised and coordinated manner, via different communication channels during the crisis hitting the sector as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic.
