Sociedad Estatal para la Gestión de la Innovación y las Tecnologías Turísticas (SEGITTUR) aims to ensure that its website is accessible for all citizens, including individuals with physical or cognitive disabilities, regardless of the technical devices used to access the information.

In its undertaking to comply with these objectives, the SEGITTUR website has been designed to comply as far as possible with the UNE 139803 double A (AA) standard, published in December 2004 by AENOR.

Law 56/2007, of 28 December, on Measures for the Promotion of the Information Society, specifies that government institutions must adopt the necessary measures to ensure that the information available on their respective Internet pages is accessible according to the criteria of accessibility to content established in Royal Decree 1494/2007 of 12 November (Regulation on the basic conditions for access by people with disabilities to technology, products and services related to the information society and social media).

This Royal Decree specifies the degree of accessibility applicable to Internet pages managed by public bodies with a minimum obligatory level of compliance of priorities 1 and 2 of the UNE standard described above.

The portal has been developed using XHTML and stylesheets, complying as far as possible with the XHTML 1.0 and CSS2 validations of the W3C.
The following are the most important measures adopted to guarantee accessibility:

Text size. The fonts used have relative dimensions so users can control their size from their browser.

Design, browsing and interactivity. Attempts have been made to achieve consistent browsing throughout the whole website, following the same structural patterns on all pages.

Keyboard shortcuts. A series of keyboard shortcuts have been established to access the browser menu options and the links at the foot of the page. These shortcuts vary depending on the browser used:

• In Internet Explorer, press alt, the shortcut key and then enter.
• In Mozilla and Netscape, press alt and the corresponding shortcut key.
• In Firefox for PC environment, press alt plus shift plus the shortcut key.
• In Opera for PC environment, press shift plus escape plus the shortcut key.
• With Safari for Mac environment, press control plus the shortcut key.

Accessibility Exceptions on the Website

As mentioned above, the pages have been designed following the validations established by the W3C. However, some pages may contain elements that cause a failure in these validations owing to their contents having been produced with a content management tool.

The sIFR technique has been used in the text of the introductory headers to allow the use of specific type faces.

The forms currently used on the website are validated in client side. Work is being done to enable server-side validation.
