SEGITTUR manages the launch of the European reference portal for tourism companies, Tourism Business Portal, in partnership with Planet Media, GDTur and EASPD

The Tourism Business Portal project is an initiative by the European Commission (EC) designed to improve the competitiveness and efficiency of European tourism companies –particularly small and medium-sized businesses– by providing convenient access to all the available information, and offering new content and tools created specifically for the tourism industry, freely accessible on the portal.

This project is part of the European Commission's new tourism policy deriving from of the Treaty of Lisbon, and perfectly coincides with SEGITTUR's goal of contributing to the development, modernisation and maintenance of the world's leading tourism industry through technological innovation.

The Tourism Business Portal contains advice on creating tourism start-ups, information on the sector and on business plans, legislation, human resources, in addition to documentation on marketing and finance in the "Build your business" section. It also features tools to support the development and strategy of tourism companies, as well as online training through tutorials on subjects relating to online marketing, positioning and energy efficiency, all in the section entitled "Tools & tutorials". It provides companies with a directory of useful links ("Useful links" section), and links to portals where they can consult employment opportunities in the sector, as well as trade fairs, events, news, and much more ("Opportunities" section).

This project is designed by and for the tourism sector, and so the European Commission has opened a communications channel with the sector through the "Get involved" section, where users can contact the portal managers and send any information they believe should be included on the site, as well as any tools they would like to share with others.
