SEGITTUR and the AECID organise a course on Smart Destinations between 27 and 31 March in Cartagena de Indias

SEGITTUR and the Spanish Agency for International Development Cooperation (AECID) organise an advanced course on smart destinations due to take place between 27 and 31 March in Cartagena de Indias (Colombia).

The aim of the course is to take an in-depth look at the core aspects of the smart destinations model, its diagnostic system and strategic planning, as well as the corresponding criteria and indicators. Furthermore, the occasion will provide the opportunity to exchange ideas and best practices in the region and in different Spanish destinations.

This action represents an additional step in the commitment to the internationalisation of the smart destinations model, as the target audience is public officials and staff from local, regional and national tourism administrations across Latin America.

The course will be opened by the Chairman of SEGITTUR, Enrique Martínez, with experts in attendance to share their experiences, including Adela Moreda, leading tourism specialist at the Inter-American Development Bank; Alicia Montalvo, Head of Climate Action and Positive Biodiversity at the Development Bank of Latin America. Furthermore, Spanish destinations including the Region of Murcia, the local government of Mallorca, the Valencian Community, Benidorm or Logroño will also participate.

The Ibero-American destinations that will share their experience include Brazil, Colombia, Paraguay, Uruguay and Cuba.

The topics to be addressed during the course include the Smart Destination Platform, data spaces in the tourism sector, the DTI model, technological solutions at the service of smart destinations, governance and public policies in tourism, digitalisation as a key for the resilience of destinations, the commitment to sustainability or universal accessibility.
