The Smart Destinations Platform, European funds and Artificial Intelligence, at the heart of the 12th edition of FITUR Know-How & Export

The Smart Destinations Platform, the role of European funds in the digital transformation of the tourism sector and Artificial Intelligence will be at the heart of the 12th edition of FITUR Know-How & Export, organised by SEGITTUR and FITUR, in collaboration with ICEX Spain Exportation and Inversiones, to be held from 24 to 26 January 2024 at IFEMA MADRID.

The Smart Destinations Platform will play a special role at FITUR Know-How & Export, as part of an edition at which there will be discussions about how EU Next Generation funds are helping the digital transformation of destinations, SDP use cases and the importance of data in improving tourism management.

Special attention will also be paid to the smart tourist destinations model, both in Spain and abroad. To this end, representatives will be present from multilateral institutions including the IDB, the Asian Development Bank and the CAF Development Bank of Latin America.

Artificial Intelligence will also be present not only in the form of presentations, but also as part of the first competition for tourism solutions developed using Artificial Intelligence, with almost 20 candidacies having been received from destinations and companies in the sector. “The IA for Tourism Awards 2024” ceremony will be held on 25 January.

All of this without forgetting the importance of sustainability, focussing on the sector’s transition to the circular economy and the creation of agricultural experiences, as well as an understanding of best SDG practices in the sector as a result of the United Nations Global Compact working group.
